Hi friends,
I want to share this sadness and the lesson I learnt out of it. One of my friends[Aswath] expired last week. He had underwent a bypass at the age of 1. After all that I got to know from my friends, I learnt a good lesson and wanted to share it with everybody I know. His surgery at 1 happened at THE VERY FAMOUS hospital for heart treatment in Chennai in the hands of THE VERY FAMOUS DOC! He was going for regular checkup till 8th standard. At this point that doc has told everything is very fine now, you are normal, you can stop coming for checkup. True to that we have never seen him complain of chest pain. A fortnight ago he was about to leave for Dubai for taking up his job there. So he went to general checkup for KG. His heart bulged during checkup indicating clear abnormality. So those people went into further checkup and reported that the operation at 1 had gone terribly wrong and we cant do anything, you better take him quickly to that hospital. Same famous hospital, same famous doc told that operation can be done now/never. If not done he will survive for 3 odd years. So parents praying for the best and hoping for the best sent him for getting operated.
Their decision was correct, I dare to fight with anybody who claims it was wrong, anybody can say cooly that the decision was wrong now, because the result is known now. Hope people dont hurt their parents still by telling that their decision was wrong.
Operation happend for 9 hours and immediately after the operation he was brain dead, but the hospital people told that he is in coma to his parents after 4 days!! Operation had failed terribly this time and this time he had to pay with his life. Money plays is all that I can say about this!!!
Before all this drama he had got placed in L&T, which medically rejected him, telling stupid reasons like - he underwent bypass at 1!!, he had tooth problem!! Something tells me that those people had sensed this abnormality! If only they would have told him the proper reason we could have taken him straight away to hospital.
It could have been avoided at all places, my friend shall be alive now if so. Never beleive when a doc says dont come for checkup in such cases. Never stick with one doctor, as clearly even the famous hospital, the famous doctor may be wrong.
Looking at his body I dint beleive he wont get up and talk, he wont laugh at me and make fun of me. We have shared so many things in common, we used to drive fast and whenever we could catch hold of one vehicle we both used to race, all that I am thinking now is he overtook me in this race which need not have ever happened at all. I dint cry... because I still dont beleive he is no more. He dint die, he was killed because of all this.
Please create this awareness to all whom you know. Tell everybody, one more life may be saved.
Praying for my dear friend Aswath Kumar to rest in peace.

i dont usually believe any doctor, i believe only god, as i know firmly that he is the gretest doctor i have ever known
ReplyDeleteDoctors are half Gods, I dont blame them. They are only half, the rest lacking part might make the mistake. So there is always nothing wrong in consulting few more of them.
ReplyDeleteSo sad :(
ReplyDeletehey u guys i too have lost one of my friends lik dis .. that was also purely d doctors mistake .. my friend was a sugar patient.... she died d same day on which she was normal to write a semester examination.. Poor gal... she went to a hosptial fr a stomach ache and they treated her wrong and killed her ....... thinking of all these mekes me want to live a life without these stupid doctors if though i get sick :( :(
ReplyDeleteIts really a distressful story...:( :( Lets all pray so tat it never happens to any1 in future..
ReplyDeletesome docs do make mistakes . But they dont do it intentionally.Imagine life without docs.No one is at fault to blame : is it the lack of knowledge on the doctors part or is it our ignorance of the ailment that we could have preferred other ways of treatment. Well what is bound to happen will however we try to prevent it . Its better we crosscheck with one or two docs, but taking treatment from all is not advisable . May be if the doctors contradict each other who can we beleive?
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace and pray that no such mistakes are committed in the future
ReplyDeleteThat is there Rogers, but if we had checked in KG before itself we could have known atleast that something is wrong. Cross consulting could save lives. We should never take treatment from both/many.
ReplyDeleteAm sorry for happened.
ReplyDeleteIf v can blame, then the top most priority has 2 b given 2 the private hospitals. They admit students who doesn't have the knowledge to gain a medical degree. In spite of that money plays a major role sucking in all the life.
Doctors do mistakes, it wud b right to admit, but their ego won allow it.
If though v check 2 doctors and one of them says v r ill wat ll happen.. v ll surely think d one who tells v r ill is lying to extract money from us .. isnt it ??
ReplyDeleteI feel very sad for what happened... I miss u aswath... u r one of my best friends in ma school life... what dilip and meenakshi said was absolutely correct...
ReplyDeleteLets pray for his soul to rest in peace and no such life taking mistakes ever happen again and we should be cautious of our health and our kin and kith....
ReplyDeleteand the doctors are money minded because they ought to brought in tat way, our government nd society make them this way. aswath, u didnt die da, u r still in our hearts da, no one can separate us da
ReplyDelete@Peria thats true dear, but we will atleast get a chance of consulting a third doc to ensure which is right da... If only we had taken him to KG before itself, may be we could have saved him
ReplyDelete@Blog contributors: Suryah, Gayathri and Dilip are my friends whose heart Aswath still occupies
Friends,
ReplyDeleteI am an Indirect Victim of the catastrophe happened for Ashwath Kumar P N.
Thanks for all your help and your continued support with the blog.
With all your support, I am sure that we might do some justice to the family by not only suing the hospital but also to ensure that there are no additional deceased Ashwath's to follow the pipeline.
Thanks, Krishna (akumalla@gmail.com)
