Animation movies

Marvel, DC, Pixar, Adobe, Disney.. and u can keep adding to this list. It is just amazing and truely perplexing, the fact of the matter. The quality and sophistication the animation industry has developed over this last half decade. I, for one used to criticize Arun "come on macha, cartoon ah da ukanthu paaka pora". But today, i am a huge fan of the animated films. Well to be specific, "complete" animation films.

Tangled, Rio, How to train your dragon, Puss in boots, Elderado and many more. i cant think of much at this very moment. If you havent watched any of the above or many animated films and have a perception that it is only for kids, then pls take a step back and watch one of those in my list and then lets have a talk. You will realize that these motion pictures capture more precise emotions, more colorful, very fantasy but at the same time very close to reality and so on. And i predict the future to be in this industry where they dont have to hire people and sit and take 100 shots to get a big scene right.

Not only that, this is also one of those evolutions where machines replace men. men have to get behind the machines to make it happen. Believe it or not, these films have started grossing quite a significant response in both the box office and outside it. The times are changing my friends, no more musical movies like Singin' in the rain or heart grabbing motion pictures like Sound in the wind. The beauty is all of this might be relived, but in a box. The computer box.

So, how many of you have interests/passion in the animated world. Making videos, movies, characters etc., I wish i knew how it worked :)

For those of you who have been unfortunate enough to miss 3 idiots or not a pundit in hindi like me..:p (those of you who know me, know why that tongue sticking smiley), "In what lies your interest and passion, make that your job. Then work becomes play and you'll be happy".. ofcourse all the nostalgia and infectious tears are stripped when i put it in english and write it in a blog. Watch it in a movie - and with aamir khan in it u will realize what it means and how much it means really.

Now, i wud like to end my blog here. But ofcourse the real connection to why i put it in here should be vivid by now. 66 of us landed up in a room where none of us or atleast very few of us had the true passion for what we signed up for. B.TECH IT. Now, i am bold enough to say even today i have zero passion for IT. I can never say i didnt learn anything in that 4 years. but wat i am saying is, I learnt common sense, rationalization, grew as a person, came across hurdles of expectation management, groomed my character, learnt how to rub people up the wrong side and the fact is this list is endless..... but nohwere will i say i learnt java and became an ardent inspired Tech freak. If I was really passionate, i wud have gone to the depths and widths of that subject.

Depths and Widths - i hope u know wat i mean... why C++, why ; and not ¬,.... why is it a FOR loop and not called FATHER loop... going to the nuts and bolts at the same time.... Oh C++, ok who are his competitors, why not Foxpro, what was missing in cobol, what was better in forlan. etc etc. The 5 senses of What, why, how, when, where and what.. oh actually its 6.. whatever!

The point really is, even 50 years down the line i will never make a successful IT person. Cuz my passion and what kicks me lies elsewhere... like for e.g. Communication is my passion, creativity, colors, taxanomy, look and feel is my passion. Ask me to make presentation and i wil focus more on the points above than the actual subject. I cannot accept or digest a Text box lying 1 inch diagonally incorrectly placed. Thats how anal i am about ! which means i want to be perfect it and excel more at it!. That kicks me... Similarly, ask me to give a WRITEUP on something, i can guaranteee that i will give u a decently well done job that can qualify and get nods from critics...

Why do u think that is so? Is it because i am good at it!!!! No..... u are absolutely wrong if u had thought so. Even if i am miserable at it i will kill myself to get better at it. Thats passion for u, ur mind will go on a quest and u will eventually become a maestro at it.

And in the same movie, Madhavan will go to his dad after spending 4yrs of engineering: "Abba, mein engineer nahi banna chahtha hoon aba... agar banaonga tho karab engineer banaonga abba..... Kya hoga, wildlife photographer banjaaonga.. Kam paisa kamaaonga, choti ghar, choti ghaadi... LEKIN MEIN KHUSH RAHONGA ABBA. Jo karoonga aapko dil se karoonga".>>>> "Dad, I dont want to become an engineer.. If i do become one, i will be very bad at it... what will happen if I become a wildlife photographer.. I ll earn less, smaller house, smaller car... So what.... whatever i do for you i ll do it from MY HEART"...

As moving as it is, it is naked truth... I'll give you another example. Juliet Canney, Executive Vice President Europe Supply, Reckitt benckiser took voluntary retirement at the age of 48 and went to her farm house to setup her own garden..As gardening his her passion, life's most delightful thing. SEE SEE SEE!!!

What's it folks? What were you born to do? What is it that sends an electric current up your head and charges all your cells when you do it?

You never know - i might take up music classes and start to play instruments as songs really jive me up and drive my spirits to scales i cant imagine. Music keeps me going. Songs, tamil songs.. :)

Slough - SL1 3UH

Apr 11th - AI 111 got me here to Slough, UK as part of a relocation that would be quiet long lasting to unwind in the next couple of years. I know it sounds really exciting and stuff but time flew and I was literally taken for a toss in terms of pressure in handling all the logistics, planning, purchasing and transporting. But whatever said and done, I have finally come down and drafting this from Holiday Inn Slough - Windsor at 3.25am our time :)

A year and a half - some good visible work, right amount of branding, packaging and marketing and ofcourse some goodwill has got me here I should say. I am humbly delighted about that and feel very happy in sharing this news with you guys as I have grown up with you in our classrooms and in this very forum. I would really love to have the next gettogether in this very beautiful and expensive city.. he he - who knows.

Trust me - if you ask me if this move has brought me the enthusiasm and happiness alone, then it is a clear cut no... Phew, how very demanding all this new world tactics are and 21 is not the age that you want to handle such pressure guys.. Haiyo, naan avlo paithiyam pudikra mathiri busy/stressed ah yen life la irunthathey illa - so many break points and pressure pipes. I am not exaggerating, it just went overboard too many times and i have been in too many crossroads where i had to meet expectations on 4 different directions - new work, old work, personal, relocation work. Its gruesome guys.!

So,... to give u guys an insight. I would be working on an ERP module called peoplesoft by oracle and this is for the HR application. Its a brand new league to me and i am definitely up for it. The city is pretty much similar to Gurgaon in a way that this is also an industrial township where you have a lot of immigrants, especially indians, pakistanis, bangladeshis and some meditteranian people as well. Like any other British neighborhood, this also has its own standard inspiring set of houses and their architecture. The climate - a must mention; very very cool (sorry, dont curse me for make this envious, he he). The city, the language, the lifestyle, the culture, the system, the discipline are all entirely different.

So hopefully, once i blend in - this is what i aim to do. Learn cooking, learn some new language and if possible become a better individual. ha ha. Will definitely miss all u guys - although we were not physically together to connect, we were always just a shout away. Moment of truth - things start to get a little far to reach!

A Homage to the Land of Heritage

Colorful vibes, Amazing aura and Flourishing Families - That was what the neighborhood was literally filled with. It was life - the conventional Indian type family fraterneties that are bound by generational ethics and highly valued traditions. I can guarantee everyday was a kaleidoscopic vibrant splashy day that my forefathers and their wide winged families of cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and kids shared in their very own township or probably a village in today's standards - Aaravayal. The community of chettiars that have flourished over time in agriculture and trade are the proud descenders of the Chola kingdom and my very own forefathers - Karaikudi being the capital of this Chettinad kingdom. Chettinad officially being the homeland of the nattukottai chettiars. That is the very birth place of the traditional chettinad cuisine - the spice filled delicacies and motherland to full meals of sambar, kaara kuzhambu, kuzhi paniyaram, paal paniyaram, different varieties of non-veg cook books.

Ideally being an Indian embelishment it definitely has a huge collection of the cultural heritage, marble and burma teak built houses with their own legendary architectural brilliance. Wide courtyards, high raised ceilings, Ravi varma wall hangings, sculpture decorated pillars and spacious rooms. It has these 'thinnai's that is encovered by family rooms on the sides. There will be around 10 pillars which enclose a mini open courtyard where sunlight falls in and it is awesome to move amongst the pillars hugging them with your arms open :). The heavy huge doors are made with extraordinary wood with intricate carvings of our Indian gods. The typical architecture structure of a Chettiar house is a study in how a human dwelling can be constructed in harmony with nature. It is also an ideal way of living as the interiors of the houses are so cool during the hot and humid Indian summers and last a lifetime! Not to forget the lavish taste of the well off chettiar families in arts & crafts that occupy a distinct position in the south Indian folklore. The woven saris, daily use of exclusive made designer ornaments in gold and silver, wood carving, silver embelishment and the wide ranging repertoire of Chettiar weddings which are probably larger than life :D..

Last but not least, the prosperous banking and money lending business in the community - a very commercial life you see. This is what stretched the reach of the chettiars to foreign lands today research papers being published on this amazing survival instincts that the Nagarathar chettiars had. A tank of temples, the rare charm and a must visit destination - definitely a tourists paradise with a difference, and one which cannot be missed by the discerning tourist.

Yena oru athisayam., we are all qualified engineers on papers and that cannot be deferred as it has our ugly duckling photos on it as well.. Here it is, in front of our eyes that we've passed through, hopefully not the last of educational qualifications in our lives. What seems most intriguing is the fact that we have done this for 4years without much pain and efforts... Oru velai namma ellarumey Meenakshi mathiri padichurukalaamo nu thonum, but again whom are we fooling - we exploited the weakness in us and showed only the diversity in unITy ;)

What purturbs me at the back of my head on some confrontations is this one conviction our ppl hold - "An engineer is always the best solution and master of all arts - better than a science graduate; better than a masters stud; and even better than those trained professionals just because they are not engineers!!" - - - Athu eppidi aagum :) I dont accept that - do any of you?

Yes, I am proud and happy that I am an Engineer - but why would the society only look upon the engineering graduates as the high end big wigs and all other graduates as just left outs and left overs. Even the organizations that we work for, or atleast the one that I work for perceives this notion globally. So, to hell with this preconceived and well immersed perception - "Engineers are God made and the rest are nuts & bolts.." Cheers to the glory of overflowing engineers and TGIE - Thank God Iam (an) Engineer ;) in this cynical world of superstitions

What really matters

Many a times,.. many many a times this happens to us..."I know this is what is rite and this what will earn me the genuine tag,.."... "But if I do the other thing then it might have some chances of delivering a different impression. Oooor, "I know that I am absolutely right and the others are mistaken, so i shall argue and try to convince them and prove my point.." Think about this now, how many times does the first instinct in our mind delivers the right direction,... the decision that we dont regret later.

Me no ultimatum, thou bound to err. Err alwys!!! Hasty decisions, quick and overconfident moves, outbound extrovert nature (If 3 Indians are in a meeting - 1 would be the iniator, 1 would be the idea generator, the last would be the counter idea generator - moral: there is no listener). Given a scenario, we would always like to contribute and speak up - but have we ever thought of this - observation in a conversation is the key to any strategy. We all, with no exceptions are a million times tougher in words and emotions - unparalleled and horsepowered in the global economics., We are spotted as the future visionary, and not China. Why do you think so, they have much cheaper and more skilled labour... They are a ton times advanced in technology. Anyday they make better diapers and hifi toys, they would even outlast us in war....

The one power that we hold is our ability to sell ourselves better,. We wait, we watch and then we adopt. Rather than just following the masked protocol of listen-follow, listen-follow... But but, why arent we USA then.. Good question, that is where I think the key point we all lack comes into picture. We were made into what we are today, but we have become too complacent that we fail to listen.. That is the key to victory. Silence is golden, but it shouldnt last an eternity - else you would be swallowed alive. Take the lead only when it is required - if you see any big giant organization - you would realize that only less than 20% are managers by post. BUT, the true scene is > 70% are Managers by ROLE!!! You see that...!

All of this because we tend to want to become masters of others more than masters of ourselves. If we pay more attention towards what really matters, it is not your opinion, it is not your ability to judge or your knowledge of the subject. It is all about how much you can listen to others - even if they are wrong. You try this - be more receptive to what your pal has to say and dont immediately say "No, i think this shud be....." - SCREW THIS I THINK phrase. For once, try not taking your first opinion or super intelligent decision into concern. Put that to a pause, take the back seat and learn to be Gandhi's 3rd monkey - the voiceless.

Then you will realize that you learn more and have more people who will value you.

Family trip part II

We had visited "Innovative film city" when my parents had come to bengaluru. Unlike the traditional theme parks this one provides space of enjoyment for all age groups :)

This has models of almost everything that we encounter in our day to day lives: bank, gift shop, radio station, tv station, police station, hospital, court, cinema hall and so on...

Haunted Mansion:

Was pretty similar to the normal ones that we get to see in malls except that it covered a large area and had a proper house with staircases leading both upwards and downwards - had a proper eerie reddish background.

Dino world:

Goot attempt of creating a dino-world atmosphere. Nothing scary though it would have been better had it been scary.

Mirror maze:

Was a cute one - we need to find our way out by ourselves :) it was pretty intersting without noone to guide us. Only near the exit there was one guy who gave direction to reach him - even with him giving direction it was cool to find him coz we could see atleast 10 copies of him :)
Mom and dad enjoyed it a lot as they had not gone to one before.

Fossil museum:

Had nice fossils of dino's and good facts written up. There was this huge
in there.

Aqua kingdom:

The regular beach/wave pool imitation that we have in normal theme parks.

Roller coaster:

Was fun :) not much turns so even parents can come.



Velocity:

Go-karting was fun for me - went for first time. It was cool to try out sports car.

Waxworks:

The place is worth visitng atleast once, it was an enjoyable trip :) Thanks to Peria for sharing about this place.

Family trip after a long time

Hey people, how are you all doing? Sorry for this long gap... My brother had come from US and I was down with viral fever :( and then my parents came to bangalore :)

Our first trip was a visit to a hill temple in outskirts of coimbatore - that hill is called Palamalai - even though it was a temple visit the place was a good one. We drove in our car till the adivaram and then from there took jeep to the hill top.

Then we went to Trichy - the trip was full of temples yet here again it was a different trip. First place was my mom's side village temple[grama devadhai kovil]. Unlike other temples this temple is only for the people who belong to that village so even though it wont be very small temple we can hardly find people in there coz it belongs only to that village people :) when we went only we were there :). The temple was surrounded by beautiful vayalgal[gives a good feel to tell that in tamil] and coconut trees and has its own pond.

Then we visited other famous temples like malaikottai, srirangam, thiruvanaikkaval. From malaikottai view of the srirangam gopuram was stupendous.

ACT 4 --- Mimic of all internal ppl; Amazing fun, the walk, the talk, the order, the theme song, funny steps - a heartfilled laughter and a deserving 2nd prize.! >>> FF >>>

Befitting end >>> Back to Basics: play cards, galloping appetitie, click snaps, closing ceremony dance (- again throwing away off limbs :)), and crash just like olden golden days.. My first attempt on abstract dotting. Hope it isnt too abstract :P

New Venture :)

It has been a long time that i posted something or really thought about something of my own :)

Let me tell u abt a wonderful journey am in.....
Why this journey????
1. It all started with the stupid ideas of my brother to mark our name in the birth town. He did want to make our generations to know that they really had a native :) When i write it, i really mean it..... Though Namakkal is my native i do not see any traces of my family's life there.....
2. We also wanted to make something out of our parents money instead of just inheriting it
3. If we were pushed out of our companies, a place that would promise our future...
4. And above all, to do something to our own people........

The result was a "SCHOOL".... And the education is for kids who cannot afford for convents still dreaming to study in English school.

And planning to name it as Aditi Vidyashram(now it is called Infant's).....

Hope it serves the purpose :)

Just as I am writing to you, sitting before the computer, thinking of what to write , my mind is clouded with infinite possibilities of what to share with you today. To put it right,in a richie benaiudish way, my thinking is no were near where i am thinking.

I pulverized my neurons, extracting all the juice of it, but failed to find a topic to dwell upon.

Time to get some inspiration . Off I went .....

Here I am , now i have got what to write, and my inspiration a small boy, sticking his thumb into his mouth,walking down the street, without any botheration about the future ,living his life carefree.

Ah how dearly I wish to live like that again ! No responsibilities, no appraisals, no code reviews,no deadlines, nothing at stake, living life as it goes.

Oh oh , atleast i had them time today to think about my childhood , the most coveted days, school and college which am sure, everyone would want a second stint .

Such is the nature of the world that it has made us slaves to responsibility, money , and has curbed our spirit of free thinking. What ever we do has to be within the boundaries of work,family, culture, society and what not.In an acre of land only a square foot remains for us with the rest occupied by hedges.

@college and school every day was sunday but now, week ends are like heaven. All I want to do a weekends is to be at peace. Dont do anything !!!. Work has made me so.Even the small things which used to interest me @school and college are no more interesting.

Everytime I do something , i question myself "why am i doing this/ , In what way is it going to benefit me?" In the end i keep asking questions and working for my company for getting some figures added up in my bank account. Life has become all money and work, with lesser time to spend for myself.

There are a lot of kids near my house. Every time i see them playing , I long to be one among them. I know, unless something like benjamin button happens, i will not be able to do it :)

I want to be free

I want to fly,roam around the world

I want to enjoy my life

I want to be me....
